PERIPHERAL VISION: A PANEL DISCUSSION
Are there documentary subjects that should not be beautified? This panel will feature a distinguished group of filmmakers including award winning filmmaker George Amponsah, producer Dionne Walker (The Hard Stop), directors James Spinney & Peter Middleton (Notes on Blindness), artist filmmaker Andrea Luka Zimmerman (Estate, a Reverie) and chaired by filmmaker and academic Treasa O'Brien. The panel will discuss the ethics of aesthetics in their documentary filmmaking praxis. This ongoing debate will address the present difficult relationship between the cinematic lens and the peripheral life of a subject.
